Excalidraw for Confluence: Whiteboard & Mermaid Diagrams
Excalidraw for Confluence (Excalidraw Whiteboard & Mermaid Diagrams) lets you draw hand-drawn whiteboards inside Confluence pages and paste Mermaid text to get flowcharts, sequence, class, state and ER diagrams in the same scene.
Sketch right on the page
Add the Excalidraw macro and draw: hand-drawn shapes, arrows, text, images and over 200 shape libraries. Every macro is its own diagram; a copied page gets its own copy.
Mermaid text becomes a diagram you can edit
Paste Mermaid for a flowchart, sequence, class, ER or Gantt diagram and it lands in the scene — or insert it as shapes. Reopen the source any time to change it.
Edit by hand, never lose a diagram
Restyle any shape, annotate the generated diagram, and save safely: the last 10 versions are kept and two people saving at once get a clear choice, not a silent overwrite.
Also included
- Macro, space page and global page — a diagram per macro, the space’s diagrams, every scene on the site.
- PDF and Word export of the page includes the diagram.
- Built-in editors — Mermaid, LaTeX Math, Graphviz, Vega-Lite, WaveDrom; the source of each stays editable.
- Shared scenes and templates — one diagram on many pages, or a new one from a copy.
- Version history — the last 10 versions; conflict-safe saving with merge.
- Over 200 shape libraries inside the app, light and dark themes, non-Latin scripts.
Runs on Atlassian
Built on Atlassian Forge: scenes are stored inside your Atlassian site, rendered in your browser, and the app makes no external calls. Anyone who can edit a page can change its diagram. See the privacy policy.

Frequently asked questions
How do I add Excalidraw to a Confluence page?
Install the app from the Atlassian Marketplace, edit the page and type /Excalidraw (or choose it from + → Apps), then press Create diagram. Each macro is its own diagram.
Can I edit a Mermaid diagram after inserting it?
Yes. The Mermaid source is stored with the diagram; choose Update, pick the diagram and change the text. The diagram keeps its place and scale in the scene.
Which diagram languages are included?
All of them in one app: Mermaid, LaTeX Math, Graphviz, Vega-Lite, WaveDrom, plus Excalidraw's own hand-drawn shapes and over 200 shape libraries.
What happens if two people save the same diagram?
Nothing is overwritten. The second person's changes stay in the editor, and they can merge them with the latest version, reload it, or save theirs as a copy. The last 10 versions are kept.
Does the app send diagrams to an external server?
No. Scenes are stored in the app's Forge storage inside your Atlassian site and rendered in your browser; all renderers ship inside the app.
What happens to the diagram when I copy a page?
The copy gets its own copy of the diagram, so editing it never changes the original. To show the same diagram on many pages, choose a shared scene in the macro settings.
Is the diagram in PDF and Word exports?
Yes. Exporting the page includes the diagram as it is shown on the page.
