BPMN Process Modeler in Tabs for Jira β€” model business processes in BPMN 2.0 right on Jira issues and project pages β€” a full visual modeler inside labeled tabs.

A real BPMN 2.0 modeler

Drag events, tasks, gateways, sub-processes, pools, lanes and data objects from the palette. Full-screen editing, zoom and a full-screen view. No notation to type.

The process next to the work

Put the as-is and to-be process in tabs on the epic that changes it, or on the project page for the whole team. Each tab can carry a short description.

Templates and other diagrams

Clone all tabs to another issue or project page to reuse a process template. Any tab can also hold Mermaid, LaTeX, Graphviz, a chart or a timing diagram.

Also included

  • Tabs on every issue and project page β€” title, optional description, one diagram each; rename, reorder by drag and drop, delete.
  • Six diagram types β€” BPMN 2.0 modeler, Graphviz, LaTeX Math, Mermaid, Vega-Lite charts and WaveDrom timing diagrams, with ready-made examples and clear syntax errors.
  • Clone tabs β€” copy a whole set to another issue or project page, after its tabs or instead of them.
  • Conflict-safe saving β€” Reload or Overwrite when someone saved first; up to 4 MB per issue.
  • Jira permissions respected, labels in any language, Jira’s dark theme.

Runs on Atlassian

Built on Atlassian Forge: tabs are stored inside your Atlassian site, diagrams render in your browser, and the app makes no external calls. See the privacy policy.

Drawing by hand instead? Excalidraw Whiteboard & Mermaid Diagrams for Jira puts a whiteboard with the same text diagrams on your issues.

Frequently asked questions

Which Jira permissions does the app ask for, and why?

Two. Read Jira work, to know the issue or project the tabs belong to and to check you may edit it before a change is stored; and app storage, for the tabs and their diagrams. It has no permission to change issues.

Where are the tabs stored?

In the app's Forge storage inside your Atlassian site, up to 4 MB per issue or project page. Every renderer ships inside the app, it makes no outside connections, and Simplify has no server.

How much does it cost?

It is free for sites with up to 10 users. Larger sites pay per user through the Atlassian Marketplace, after a free 30-day trial.

Can each tab hold a different kind of diagram?

Yes. Every tab chooses its own type β€” BPMN, Graphviz, LaTeX Math, Mermaid, Vega-Lite or WaveDrom β€” in every Tabs app; the app only decides the type a new tab starts with.

Are issue tabs and project tabs the same?

No. Every issue has its own tabs and every project page has its own; Clone tabs copies a set from one to another.

When are my changes saved?

Only when you press Save. One Save stores all tabs, titles, order, descriptions and diagrams of the issue or project page; if someone saved in the meantime you choose Reload or Overwrite.

Who can change the tabs?

Whoever may edit the issue in Jira. A project page's tabs can be changed by everyone who may edit issues in that project. Everyone who can browse the project sees them.

Does the app send diagrams anywhere?

No. Tabs are stored in the app's Forge storage inside your Atlassian site and rendered in your browser; a Vega-Lite chart never loads data from a URL.
